Employees and their families enjoy an afternoon of music and activities at SOME’s facilities.

The celebration of such a significant anniversary has led to another record, in this case for the most multitudinous event – more than 500 people, including current and former workers and their families, gathered on the factory’s main esplanade to celebrate Family Day, which ended up turning into a veritable festival.
The activities began with guided tours of the factory, in which families were able to see how the main sheet metal stamping processes are carried out. The factory’s robots and its most automated machines were the highlight of the tour.
Afterwards, the activities moved outside with inflatables and games for young and old. On the main stage, the company’s new corporate video was screened as well as a compilation of the history of SOME, with heartfelt words from the company’s first workers. Yago Torrent, SOME’s General Manager, and Ramon Mena, head of the Automotive Division and son of the founder of the same name, gave a few words of thanks and expressed their optimism at enjoying 50 more years of successful business.
The music was provided by the bands of four of SOME’s employees – Blue Lemon, Vintage Rock and POV – which livened up the dinner until the end of the celebration on what turned out to be a great summer evening.
This Family Day comes on the tail of other successful events to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary. The exhibition “SOME, 50 years shaping progress”, held in May at the Casa de Cultura in Sant Quirze de Besora, received around 300 visitors. This was followed in June by the celebratory dinner which brought together clients, local authorities and special guest Roger Torrent, Minister of Business and Labour in the Catalan Government.

Today, 8 March, we share the final testimony in this series dedicated to three women at SOME who are developing their careers in different areas of the company. Three perspectives that highlight talent, commitment and the need to continue moving towards real equality of opportunities.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2026 (8M), we would like to share three professional journeys of three women who have built their careers in an industrial environment traditionally dominated by men. Three different perspectives —production, logistics and management— united by a common thread: vocation, professional rigour and perseverance.

With the upcoming celebration of 8M, equality once again takes centre stage in public debate. It is an opportunity to recognise the rights that have been won and, at the same time, to remember that the professional world still has ground to cover in order to guarantee a real equality of opportunity between women and men.
